Detailed Loss Estimates for Demolition and/or Carpet Restoration

Acquiring a detailed loss estimate for demolition and/or carpet restoration can sometimes be a tricky task.  While something along the lines of an exterior power washing (as prompted by soot and smoke damage) may be somewhat straightforward, a demolition, or carpet restoration can be a different story.

A detailed loss estimate for a demolition not only needs to take into account what exactly is being demolitioned for removal, but to get the big picture, replacement costs must be factored in.  What goes in to a detailed loss estimate includes the labor, the materials, and even carting fees for removal service.  A detailed loss estimate will include all of the above and refinishing or recovering fees.  Refinishing and recovering are almost always necessary in the face of a soot/smoke loss as fire related damages are especially harsh on materials and items in a home or business.

For carpet restorations, especially those affected by soot and smoke, there are also many things to think of in terms of creating detailed loss estimates.  Some of the things to keep in mind are the type of carpet (its fabric etc), how long has the stain or damage been in affect?  Have the dyes in the carpet been affected?  Ultimately, is a removal and replacement in order?

Also, in terms of getting a detailed loss estimate, it is important to consider where you are located.  If you are in Westchester County, NY; Greenwich, Stamford, or Norwalk CT; Manhattan, Long Island, New Jersey, or elsewhere… the vendors available to you may have different rates not only based on the cost and accessibility of materials but minute differences in government regulations that may affect final pricing.
